KYOTOMEDITATIONCENTERKYOTO DAITOKUJI-TEMPLE

Daitokuji is a ZEN buddhist temple which was built in the year 1315. It is the temple where the famous monk Ikkyu as well as the famous tea master Sen no Rikyu were active. The ZEN of Daitokuji has been very influential to Japanese culture. Up to modern times, it has also been deeply connected to the Japanese tea ceremony (sado).

In Meditation, it is thought that your body, breathing, and heart are all connected. Stress builds up in your muscles. A distorted body causes shallow breathing, and shallow breathing creates an irritated and depressed heart. In Meditation, you first remove the distortions from your body and fix your posture. Your breath will then naturally become deep and calm. And when your breath becomes deep and calm, your heart become peaceful.
